NIHR Meets a Delegation of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation’s Regional Program for the Middle East
The National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) Chairperson Dr. Abdul-Aziz Hassan Abul met a Swiss delegation headed by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation’s Regional Program for the Middle East Director Mr. Pascal Raess, at the NIHR’s headquarters, in the presence of a number of members of NIHR Council of Commissioners.
At the beginning of the meeting, the NIHR Chairperson welcomed Mr. Raess and discussed with him the frameworks of cooperation and coordination between both sides in the human rights area, especially with regard to the issue of migrant labor and the NIHR’s role in handling it.
Member of NIHR’s Council of Commissioners Dr. Abdul-Rahman Al-Jawaheri explained the NIHR’s mechanism of receiving complaints and procedures for dealing with them in addition to the monitoring and follow-up of cases that are published in the local press, the media and social communication networks.
On his side, the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation’s Regional Program for the Middle East Director praised the NIHR’s role in dealing with the migrant labor issues as well as its efforts in human rights fostering and development in Bahrain, emphasizing the importance of reinforcing cooperation between both sides especially in relevant issues. Agreement was made to sign a Memorandum of Understanding between them very soon
